North London derby: Arsenal vs Tottenham
The North London derby is the meeting of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The two clubs first played each other in a friendly on 19 November 1887, when Arsenal were still based in Plumstead. A proper rivalry only began in 1913, when Arsenal moved from the Manor Ground to Highbury, just four miles from Tottenham's White Hart Lane, a move Tottenham resented because they considered the area their territory. Feelings sharpened again in 1919, when a Football League vote elected Arsenal to the First Division ahead of Tottenham. Today Arsenal play at Emirates Stadium and Tottenham at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
